Linda Fritschner is an Emerita Professor of Sociology and former Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at Indiana University South Bend. She studied painting and drawing at the School of the Art Institute. She also benefited from portrait classes with Alice Schlesinger, watercolor classes with Jim Borden and Nita Engle, oil and acrylic classes with David Lester Learn, David Allen, Diane Tesler, and others.
Linda is a lifetime member of the Northern Indiana Artists, a member of the Indiana Women’s Caucus for Art, the St. Joe Valley Watercolor Society, and the Elkhart Art League. Her work has been shown and received awards in exhibits with these groups. Her work is in private collections throughout the United States.
Linda is known for her paintings of extreme environments—the Antarctic and the Arctic including Alaska, Iceland, Greenland, and Svalbard. She also paints the Indiana countryside and local neighborhoods. She can be reached at lfritsch@iusb.edu.
