Patricia DaRif

I have loved fiber and texture since childhood when my mother taught me to sew. I always made art at night and on weekends during the years I worked as an administrative law judge for a social service agency.

Now, in retirement, my work is my art which currently can best be described as mixed media. My basic materials are cotton and silk fabric and paper, which I subject to a variety of surface design techniques, including dyeing, painting, screen printing, lamination, discharge, photo transfer and stitch. The relationship of humans to one another or to their physical world is often the subject of my work.
